Recorder

Recorders are extremely useful and WILL be a game changer and maybe one of the first equipment you should get if you are looking to improve your sound quality and story telling.

Here are the ones we recommend going from lower budget to higher budget

When considering audio recorders, it's worth exploring package kit options. Some kits offer added value, such as recorders with interchangeable mics that can transform into shotgun microphones, eliminating the need for an external one. However, it's important to note that dedicated external shotgun microphones often provide richer sound and additional features, as they are purpose-built for that specific function. Assess your recording needs and preferences to determine whether a package kit is the better choice for your setup.

Zoom H5

If you're drawn to the features of the Zoom H6 but looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Zoom H5 is a compelling choice. While it shares many similarities with its successor, the H5 does make some compromises to achieve a lower price point.

These compromises include a less impressive screen, featuring just two XLR/TRS inputs (compared to the H6's four), a shorter battery life, and a 32GB SD card. Despite these adjustments, the Zoom H5 remains a very capable audio recorder. It retains features like interchangeable microphone modules, shock-mounted mics for low noise, and sturdy construction, making it a reliable and cost-effective option for recording audio.

It's biggest con is the fact it has no clipping option for XLR input, resulting in glitches if the cable slightly disconnects after handling the recorder mid recording
