Camera Must Have
Although this is not a necessity to be able to film, It is a must have if you are serious about this. If you are solely an actor, you are good to go with simply the camera, tripod and microphone, but if you are a filmmaker, you need these.
#1
ND Filters
Instead of investing right away into expensive lenses, try to buy a basic ND Filter from Gobe for example. They will allow you to dim down the brightness of the image without messing with your settings. Stick with your kit lenses for a while and invest into other things like lighting, combined with this. Just make sure it is the right size, indicated on the top of the lens with a symbol and a single double digit number. Here is a very good and cheap one that fits on from 37 to 86mm.

Camera Cage
This will be a big step up. It will first, make you look professional(very important lol), will protect your camera, allow you to attach a wide variety of equipment such as a handle, grips, monitors, microphone, the sky is the limit. Those attachments will allow yo to get more out of your camera, such as low angle, more controlled and accurate movements and more. You not wear down your camera screw as much, since you will be screwing into the cage frame. Finally, your camera will be heavier, which is a very good thing, if you have a DSLR, light cameras. the lighter the camera, the harder it is to shoot a shakeless shot, the heavier, the smooth. I would recommend you check which cage fits with your camera, but her is on that first with Canon 60D, 70D, 50D, 40D, 30D, 6D, 7D, 7D MarkII, 5D MarkII, 5DMarkIII, 5DMarkIII, 5DS, 5DSR, 650D, 600D, 550D, 500D, 450D, 760D, 750D, 700D. 100D. 1200D, eos M5, Nikon D7000, D7100, D7200, D300S, D610, D3200, D3300, D5100, D5200, D5500, Sony A99, A58, A7, A7II, A7RII.
